At Windsong Dental, your care is provided by a team of two highly experienced dentists – Dr. Svetlana (Lana) Usherenko and Dr. Vladimir (Mel) Melnikov.
Holding four dental degrees between the two of them and completing over ten times more hours of continuing dental education per year than required by the State of Texas, Dr. Lana and Dr. Melnikov are able to diagnose, prevent, and treat most dental problems across all stages of life from infancy to late adulthood.
Dr. Lana and Dr. Melnikov work collaboratively on developing comprehensive treatment plans addressing everything from emergency care to the most complicated dental issues. They also contribute their individual expertise throughout the various steps of your treatment and coordinate your care with other likeminded medical and dental specialists.

(Mel) Melnikov
“In the art of implant dentistry, just like in martial arts, you have to work daily on perfecting your technique, hoping to use a lifetime of knowledge only as a last resort. I offer implant solutions to patients only when all other options are no longer available. But, if an implant is needed, I am fully confident in my ability to place it. I started working with dental implants over 25 years ago and I have placed thousands of them.
I also do a lot of surgical procedures, but I consider myself to be a general dentist first. Not being limited by a certain technique or narrow specialization was always important to me and together with Dr. Lana, we formed a great team that can provide help in almost any dental situation from prevention and routine dentistry to Digital Smile Design and full arch implant supported solutions.”
As part of a dental dynasty, becoming a dentist was a natural choice for Dr. Melnikov.
Dr. Melnikov graduated with honors from the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio after obtaining a dental degree and a PhD from the Novosibirsk State University in Russia.
Even though Dr. Melnikov impressed his professors with his encyclopedic knowledge of various implant systems during his studies at the University of Texas Dental School, he knew within the fast-paced, ever-changing world of dental technology his training as a dentist should be ongoing. Thus, upon graduation, Dr. Melnikov continuously expanded his skills and abilities by attending world-renowned training programs in oral surgery and implant dentistry at the Pikos Institute, the Misch Resnik Implant Institute, the gIDE Dental Implant Center, and the Spear Education Center.

(Lana) Usherenko

I want everyone to have a lifetime of optimal dental health.”
Inspired by her dentist at the age of 10, Dr. Lana always dreamed of becoming a dentist herself.
She fulfilled her dream twice by graduating magna cum laude from the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio after getting her first dental degree at the Novosibirsk State University in her native country of Russia.
Being an eternal student, Dr. Lana earns over 200 hours of continuing dental education every year and regularly attends courses organized by some of the most prestigious post-graduate training centers in the world such as the Kois Center, the Dawson Academy, and the Spear Education Center.
